black and white photograph of statue of Vestalis Maxima in Rome

Vintage photograph of a statue of a Vestalis Maxima, now in the National Museum (Palazzo Massimo alle Terme) in Rome. This statue is incredibly valuable for its beautiful depiction of the chief Vestal’s headdress, clearly showing the suffibulum veil, infula (headband), vittae (long ribbons hanging down from the infula) and fibula (brooch).
