a great white wooden horse is pulled by ropes into an ancient city

This 18th century oil painting by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo depicts the Trojans pulling the great wooden horse into their city.

I’ve included this painting because the story of Vesta in Rome really begins with the fall of Troy. While Troy is burning, the Trojan hero Aeneas escapes with his son, Ascanius. They are the ancestors of Rhea Silvia, the Alban princess and Vestal Virgin who (by Mars) gives birth to Rome’s founder, Romulus.
